Angelina Jolie makes low-profile visit to Haiti
HAITI -- Actress Angelina Jolie has quietly returned to Haiti for meetings with Haitian and U.N. officials.
Those of you who keep commenting about how do-good celebrities like Angelina Jolie should help the US first need to go to Haiti or any other impoverished nation to see how much more poverty stricken they are over there. Americans can technically take care of themselves because we have infrastructures and resources that are readily convenient for us, regardless of whether you live in Beverly Hills or the ghetto. It is most of us who act all arrogant and all-that who never see the world beyond our borders that need to get out of the box and realize that there are still a significant number of countries that are so poor it's unimaginable to see how they live. You need to individually ask yourself what good have you done for this world before you even criticize anyone, got it?!
The weekend visit by the "goodwill ambassador" for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was not announced to keep it low-profile.
U.N. officials confirmed the visit when asked by The Associated Press. They agreed to discuss the trip only if not quoted by name because they were asked not to share details of Jolie's visit.
Jolie has visited Haiti several times. In February she met with orphans and other earthquake victims.
The actress has also visited Iraq, Thailand, Pakistan and other countries on behalf of the U.N. refugee agency.
Angelina Jolie is such a caring person. How can anyone make negative comments about what she does. Bless her heart, her priority is helping children many of whom don't even know where their next meal is coming from. Not only does she take good care of her family but reaches out to the world. Angelina is beautiful woman inside and out. Live and let live people.
